Cheryl Hurst: Heat Embossing

Hello Fellow Stampers,

Today I wanted to talk about Heat Embossing. You will need a few tools to be able to do this technique. But I have all you need in my store. So let’s talk about it.

1. The Heat Tool

You will need to have this Heat tool to be able to melt the embossing powder. No hair dryers don’t work for this technique. The tool has 2 settings 1 is a lower Heat great to dry ink,paste . 2 is for embossing powder the one that you will use the most. I had mine now for over 3 years and it’s as good as the day I got it. So it worth the investment. Cost is $53. You will need to be careful as it does get hot.

2. Embossing Additions Tool kit.

OMG! This is truly amazing it is new this year it’s in the July-December Catalogue. I hope it stays. It’s amazing. The tray is for the loose powder and it very easy to put back into your container after you finish with it as it has a little nozzle with a cap on it. You just need to tip it up and undo the nozzle and the powder will fall back into your container. If a little stays just need the brush. Now the brush is great to pick up any left over powder in your tray also if you get any on your work that you don’t want to emboss. The little white pouch is your guardian Angel of the embossing technique. The pouch has a powder inside it. You will need the lightly rub over your CardStock or what you want to emboss with this first. It helps with the static and oil marks on your paper and helps to free any powder you don’t want embossed. The tweezers are fantastic to use while you are using the heat tool. It’s a great investment $47.

3. VersaMark ink, is what you will need to use so the powder will stick. You stamp your image with the VersaMark ink and than stamp it on the area you want . The VersaMark ink will be a few shades darker once stamped and that’s when you use you powder . You place you powder on the area that you just stamped and you will see that it sticks to the VersaMark stamped area. Tidy any areas that you don’t want to emboss with your brush and now it’s ready to use the heat tool. Watch the magic happen. Cost $16.75

4. Embossing Powders. We have two bundles of 3 the first one is the basic range great one to start with. White, Black and Clear. To be able to emboss you will need the powder. The second bundle is the metallic range in gold, silver and copper each bundle costs $32.
